Market regime
A market regime is a persistent state of market behaviour — for example calm or stressed — with its own typical returns, volatility and correlations.
Regimes are not observed directly; they are estimated from data. A hidden Markov model is one standard way to estimate the probability of being in each regime using only information available at the time.
